Spa treatments deliver an immediate relaxation hit, signalling to the hyperactive mind that you can press pause. From specialist wraps, bakes and oils, to hot stones and massage – all require you to actually stop, to be still, breathe more slowly and focus on your physical self. They reconnect you with the more natural rhythms of your own body.

Heather Hawthorne goes even further, suggesting a full on board spa experience. “Clients who have a limited amount of time on holiday want to make the most of it. It can be a nightmare to try and hire local therapists when you have no idea about their level of professionalism and training or the quality of treatments offered, and there may be issues with security and confidentiality.”
With spa services provided on board, yacht owners and guests can indulge in holistic, therapeutic treatments without leaving the yacht. Heather adds: “your privacy and anonymity are completely protected and you can enjoy a range of treatments from skin care to yoga instruction. If there is a steam room or sauna, we can also offer traditional Turkish baths and Asian exfoliation treatments.”
While many superyachts do have a dedicated treatment room on board, this is not a prerequisite. Spa treatments can be offered in guest cabins, master suites, offices, saloons, gyms and deck areas. Heather Hawthorne has worked aboard more than 60 yacht charters as spa therapist-in- residence, and only one of those yachts had a treatment room. “In fact I only worked in that room on 5 out of 21 days, as the clients preferred to have their treatments outside in the shade of the sun deck.”

“Provided your therapist is qualified, professional and accompanied by great references,” says Heather, “spa treatments can enhance relaxation, personal enjoyment and well-being more than any other activity offered on board.”
Heather Hawthorne and her company Charter Spa Services have been providing first-class bespoke spa treatments for yachting clients since 1997. Heather has transformed some of the world’s busiest and most prestigious yachts (Excellence III, Oasis, Fortunato, Phoenix, Apogee, Lady Ann Magee, High Chapparal, Galaxy, Mia Elise, Bad Girl, Pegasus) into luxury health retreats, offering an intensive service that accelerates and enhances the unwinding process and deepens the sense of relaxation day-by-day.
“Guests can travel in style and luxury and return home in optimum shape, feeling relaxed, renewed and rejuvenated…exactly what holidays are for.”
